“Tower of Babylon” Short Story Reading Group and Dinner
Event on 2017-06-27 17:30:00
Join us as we read and discuss Ted Chiang's Nebula award-winning sci-fi short story, Tower of Babylon. The novelette revisits the Tower of Babel as a multi-century, mega-construction project. In particular, the story follows Hillalum, a miner from Elam, and his colleagues, who are hired to dig through (and peer through) the Vault of Heaven. As expected, this quick read raises a host of important questions about humanity, God, and what we can and cannot fully know. Author Ted Chiang, and his "soulful science fiction," were recently featured in the New Yorker. Reserve your spot today to be a part of this impactful discussion. Dinner will be provided. All guests are expected to read the Tower of Babylon (32 quick pages) prior to our time together. Purchase the Penguin Random House ebook novelette for .99. * This event is held in partnership with Blackhawk CAM. * This project was made possible through the support of an award from the STEAM project at Fuller Theological Seminary.
