How to Choose the Perfect Hot Tub
Soaking in a hot tub is a great way to relax after a hard day’s work. This not only rejuvenates your mind but also re-energizes your body. A majority of people tend to think that spas are meant for the rich. But there are spas and hot tubs for every budget.
Instead of investing in an expensive hot tub, it is advisable that you start with an inexpensive inflatable hot tub. This is especially true if you will not be using the hot tub on a regular basis.
Inflatable hot tub
An inflatable hot tub is easy to install. You don’t need to hire professionals to install such a hot tub and the installation takes less than an hour. The best feature of an inflatable hot tub is the fact that you can carry it wherever you want, including trips and vacations. However, an inflatable hot tub can accommodate not more than two people at a time. So, keep this in mind before buying one.
An inflatable hot tub comprises of a heater that keeps the water warm and uses a blower instead of water jets. The heaters are weak and the temperature of the water may drop suddenly. Make sure that sharp objects are kept away from such hot tubs as they get punctured easily.
Wooden hot tub
A wooden hot tub is more expensive than an inflatable one but is a popular buy. It looks elegant and is an ideal choice if a modern hot tub doesn’t suit your home décor. Unlike inflatable hot tubs that come with a blower, wooden ones come with a heater to keep the water warm. However, a wooden hot tub requires more maintenance and care than other types of tubs. Wood is prone to decay and so it is necessary to re-stain the tub once annually. For those who do not mind the high maintenance costs, a wooden hot tub is the best option.
In-ground hot tub
If you want a low maintenance hot tub that also offers great looks, an in-ground hot tub may be the best option. Such a hot tub may be made of concrete, fiberglass or with vinyl linings. An in-ground hot tub is expensive to install but offers lower maintenance costs. Also, such a hot tub is larger in size and can be used by many people at a time.
Acrylic hot tub
If you want to buy a functional hot tub, acrylic is the way to go. Acrylic tubs come with specialized ‘whirlpool’ jets. Such a hot tub requires the least amount of maintenance.
It is advisable that you first try out an inflatable hot tub before opting for the more expensive wooden, concrete, vinyl lined or acrylic hot tubs. If you will be using the tub regularly for soaks or hydrotherapy, then it is best you invest in a larger or multi-functional hot tub. Make sure that you keep your needs and frequency of use in mind before you choose a particular hot tub.
