Green Spaces in the Urban Landscape Series (Sansevieria)!
Event on 2017-08-01 19:00:00
Class Description: Each week we will learn about a family of plants that do wonderfully in the home and also have the potential for creative design and beautiful aesthetics. The classes will start with more easy to care for plants, beginning with the Sansevieria or Snake plant, and leading up to the Alocasia. Each week, after learning about a particular plant family and its care needs and design potential, students are able to take home their own member of that plant family. Students will be provided with a Terracotta pot in class but are also able to bring their own pot as well to house their new plant.  August 1- Sansevieria:*Native to Africa, Madagascar and southern Asia, the Sansevieria goes by a number of monikers including Snake Plant or Mother in Law’s Tongue. With over 70 species and an exceptionally hardy disposition, the Sansevieria has become one of the most desirable plants for indoor spaces due to its ability to survive on very little water as well as a wide variety of lighting conditions. A fantastic plant to learn gardening skills with, the plant also has beautiful structure and color variations. The combination of ease and beauty makes this a wonderful way to start your urban garden.  Materials Fee: Sansevieria Plant: .50; Container (Optional): ; Soil: . This fee will be collected by the instructor at the beginning of the session. Dates and Times: This is a five-week series on Tuesdays in August, from August 1 to August 29, from 7 to 9 pm. You can either register for each class independently or register for the whole series with a discount.
