GCL publishes January 2014 Dallas International Lighting Market: Elevated Lighting Designs & Industry
Chicago, IL, January 23, 2014 – The 2014 Dallas International Lighting Market, a biannual Electronic Components and Supplies trade show, ended successfully last weekend as the Dallas Market Center accounted for a 60 percent increase in hotel bookings and attendance was similar, if not better, to that of the January 2013 Market.
More than 3 thousand industry professionals and lighting manufacturers gathered at the Dallas Lighting Market, the leading source for wholesale lighting, to display and be witness to new product releases that included companies developing their LED lines, elevated styles and designs and major movement away from the norm.
Among the multitude of lighting innovation and originality within the vast corners of the Market was the annual gala where the 25th Annual ARTS Awards were announced.
According to dallasmarketcenter.com, Bill Winsor, President and CEO of the Dallas Market Center, announced at the gala how significant the ARTS Awards are.
“This year’s 25th annual ARTS Awards was a milestone event celebrating the past, present and future of the home furnishings industry,” Winsor said.
In the Lighting Fixture category, Visual Comfort & Co. won for the second year in a row and Jamie Young Co. took home the top price for Portable Lamps. Lighting was also praised in other categories – Norburn Lighting of Vancouver, BC, won the International Retailer category and Phillips Collection’s Mandy Shanahan, who has designed several lamps for the company, was honored as Product Designer of the Year.
Here is a preview of some of the latest designs in lighting revealed at the International Lighting Market this month:
Kalco Lighting introduced a modern ‘twist’ with the Escalier pendant; antique copper finish and seeded glass cylinder.
Kichler Lighting added a DIY element to the details of the Birchfield collection with a beautifully designed lamp that features a clear glass base with removable top; consumers can insert their own decorative accents into the lamp’s base to create seasonal looks.
Savoy House amped up the crystal side of lighting with the Tierney chandelier which features graduated columns of precision cut optic acrylic elements.
Crystorama added ornate designs to the scheme with the Simone collection; an updated antique chandelier with a mixture of draped crystal and long graceful lines of glass arms.
Progress Lighting brought a transitional twist with Dazzle collection, which features clear glass shades with glistening glass beads, reminiscent of 19th century designs with an updated twist.
The Dallas International Lighting Market is truly a platform where designers and manufacturers can show their pull and expertise in the field of lighting and the January 2014 Lighting Market definitely gave all attendees a chance to be one step ahead on industry trends.
According to dallasmarketcenter.com, the International Lighting Market “has more than one million square feet of resources from all major lighting manufacturers, [and] buyers experience a convenient, comprehensive marketplace of fixed and portable lighting for residential and commercial projects.”
