Basics of Code 1 – May Coding Camp for Ages 8 – 11 Basics of Code 1 is SG Code Campus' foundational course. Our holiday camp, conducted over 5 daily sessions of 2 hours each, will touch on the nature of computers – where they are found, why they are useful, and how they work. Students begin learning the fundamentals of code by using Scratch to command the world's most popular drone – the Star Wars BB8 © by Sphero ©! Our goal is to build an appreciation for why learning to program a computer is important today — Code Campers will come to recognise code as a language used to instruct computers, as well as a means to tackle complex problems. Students will also begin to understand why coding is both a science and a type of mathematics. How do you use computer science to solve a problem? You start by learning how to formulate algorithms (chain tasks together to solve a problem), construct loops (computers are great at repetitive tasks so exploit that!) and rely on conditionals (enable your computer to make decisions). After this course, kids will be able to build basic programs and collaborate with others to devise computer-based solutions to problems. We can’t wait to begin! Camp Schedule The camp will be held from 17th Jul, – 21st Jul, Monday to Friday, from 10:00am to 12:00pm, at our brand new premises at #03-04 Parkway Centre. Promotions! 1. Early Bird Promotion: Sign-up 2 weeks before the course starts to enjoy an early bird discount of ! **Do note that we require a minimum of 2 Code Campers to start a class. You will be fully refunded if the class minimum is not fulfilled.
